Joe Rush Band

The Joe Rush Band formed as a six piece in 1971, under the name Southern Comfort, in Bristol, TN. In 1973 two members quit and a name change ensued. The band moved to Atlanta, GA in early 1974 and then moved to south Florida in the fall. They recorded their only release, on 7", in 1976. Soon after they became the house band at the night club, Fat Cat's, in Miramar, FL. Producer Gary Cape saw them at Fat Cat's and later signed them to his label, Kami Records, Inc.. Kami records was affiliated with Capricorn Records and there were plans to record and release and album, but Capricorn Records went out of business and the album was shelved. The band continued to play locally until their break up in 1981.
