Young and talented jazz singer from Moscow. Kristina was born in Luhansk, Ukraine. Started to sing and play piano at early age. Graduated from Luhansk College of Music (specializing on jazz vocals and jazz piano) and continued her musical education in Gnesins Music Academy in Moscow. Ukrainian culture and music had a huge impact on her, so besides of singing world-famous jazz standards, she writes her own music. Now Kristina lives in St. Petersburg, collaborates with different musicians and bands. She performed with Jon Davis, David Gibson, John Marshall, Todd Herbert. Kristina Kovalyova is a jazz singer and composer, musician with a unique sense of style and creative freedom, a vibrant tone and charming charisma. She took part in The Voice of Ukraine TV contest, International Jazz Day 2018 (St. Petersburg) and Rigas Ritmi Festival 2019 (Latvia), where she was awarded with the First prize and Raimond Pauls’ special prize. Kristina has been frequently touring Russia and other countries with Russian musicians and NY pianist Jon Davis. Deeply influenced by Ukrainian music and culture, she combines jazz and Ukrainian folk music. Kristina released her debut album Hristya v Namysti featuring outstanding St. Petersburg musicians in June 2019.
