Mort Greene

American composer & lyricist whose songs were used in movies and TV. Born 3 October 1912 in Cleveland, Ohio. Died 28 December 1992 in Palm Desert, California (80 years of age), His compositions include "Sleepy Serenade", "Wherever You Go", "Hands Across the Border", and "Sioux City Sue". He was nominated for an Academy Award for the lyrics to “There’s a Breeze on Lake Louise,” from the 1942 film “Mayor of 44th Street” and an Emmy for comedy writing in the 1962-63 season of “The Red Skelton Hour.” He charted six times as a songwriter on the U.S. charts and once on the U.K. charts between 1935 and 1966. His "Thrilled" by Hal Kemp and His Orchestra hit #6 in the U.S. in 1935 (co-written by Harry Barris).
