The history of Finnish Techno House, Acid House and Electro began in the early 1990s. Corporate 09 was one of the first pioneers in the Finnish scene. The group was formed in the beginning of 1991, when Pertti Grönholm and [s]Mika Vainio[/s] from Turku produced a few techno pieces with industrial and house influences. Tracks were played at the dance parties organized by Hyperdelic Housers collective. The vinyl EP In Joy We Trust was the first release of Corporate 09. The EP was released in spring 1991 by Castle Communications. Some tracks, such as The Beast, were often played at local warehouse parties. The first Corporate 09 album, Mindprobe, saw the daylight in fall 1991. It was also released by Castle Communications. These two releases are considered to be the first EP and CD album recordings in the Finnish electronic dance music (e.g. Techno and House) scene. Some of the tracks found their way into Finnish radio and TV programs. However, the releases did not mark a breakthrough in electronic dance music in Finland. Techno and House only gained more foothold a couple of years later. In 1993, Vainio continued as a solo artist under the stage name Ø and later as a member of Pan Sonic. Since then, Corporate 09 has been more or less a Grönholm's solo project. The musical style has ranged from Industrial Techno, Acid House and Electro to spacious soundscapes of Ambient House and IDM. However, Corporate 09 has never followed the hippy trends in electronic dance music. In the second half of the 1990s, tracks by Corporate 09 were released in the collections of Unitunes (a joint record label of Dum Records and Sähkö Recordings) and Sauna Connections. In the early 2000s, Valimo Productions released a remix compilation entitled as The Egotrip - Remixes and a double album Catalogues 1-2. In spring 2019, Valimo Productions released a limited edition of two double-CDR collections, both containing remastered songs from the back catalog of Corporate 09.
