Born: Broadstairs, February 4, 1916. Died Pratt's Bottom, January 31, 1997) British composer, and for most of his professional life music coordinator for the BBC World Service. Among his arrangements was "Lillibullero" which introduced hourly World Service News. Compositions. incude. many choral and vocal works, opera "The Children in the Forest" Author of book on Debussy (1974) and history of the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts (1980)
