Fred Godfrey (2)

Fred Godfrey (1837-1882) was the son of Charles Godfrey (1790-1863), who was bandmaster of the Coldstream Guards from 1825-1863. He studied at the Royal Academy and took over from his father as bandmaster of the Coldstream Guards from 1863-1880. He wrote many compositions and arrangements, especially known is his piece "Lucy Long" for bassoon and orchestra, which became a favourite at the Proms.
