Was born in Linz. She grew up in a musical family with five siblings. Already at an early age she performed regularly throughout Austria with family house music. During this time, a Christmas record for children and a CD with the Vienna Boys' Choir (Philips Classics Productions) were made. In 1995 she completed her concert studies at the Mozarteum with Prof. Edward Witsenburg . Then she attended the master class in Würzburg with Prof. Giselle Herbert . Due to her extensive orchestral experience, she is regularly invited by large orchestras and renowned ensembles, including the Klangforum Wien, Volksoper Wien, Tiroler Symphonie Orchester Innsbruck. During her studies she met her husband Gabor Lieli. She is active as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician as well as a harp teacher (Upper Austrian Regional Music School). Katharina Teufel has been principal harpist with the Mozarteum Orchestra and the Salzburg Chamber Philharmonic since 1996 . Solo concerts with orchestra have taken her to Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Japan and Switzerland. Katharina Teufel is a soloist at the Salzburg Fortress Concerts and a member of the Austrian Ensemble for New Music (ÖENM). Since October 2009 lecturer at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg . She is regularly invited as a juror, for example at the "Prima la Musica" national harp competition in 2004. It is a particular concern of Katharina Teufel to present the harp as a versatile instrument. In addition, she is open to all styles and plays old, contemporary and popular music (2002 tour with the "Junge Tenören").
