Ascension (25)

Ascension is a local band from Illinois. When they recorded their first 4-track demo in 1982 they did not have a lead singer and asked former Head East singer John Schlitt, who hails from Peoria, IL, to contribute lead vocals to their demo. The story is that someone who heard this 4-track demo pointed Schlitt out to Bob Hartman, founder, guitarist and main songwriter of the band Petra (9). Schlitt eventually become lead singer of Petra in 1986. The 4-track Ascension demo is available in collectors' circles in digital format. It contains the following tracks: 1 Dance Of Death 5:19 2 Mother Earth 7:38 3 Hell And Earth 4:50 4 Ascension (Instrumental) 5:31 The version of Dance Of Death as released on WWCT 106 Basement Tapes '82 features a different lead singer and not John Schlitt.
