Об исполнителе:
Amsterdam-based Dutch band in the tradition of Soft Parade. Lead singer Hans Bos of Soft Parade returns in March 2020 with a new album under the name the MonThruSun. After a creative collaboration with Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) that resulted in acclaimed albums ‘Pure’ and ‘Get Well Soon’, Soft Parade stopped in 1996. The 2020 new album was recorded in Amsterdam IJland and Americain Studios with drummer / producer Remko Schouten (Stephen Malkmus, Zzz, Bull), Tinca Veerman (vocals), Robin Berlijn (piano, guitar), Dick Brouwers and Eric Maas (bass), Leon van Egmond (trombone), violinists Antonio Pliz and Robert Uchida, Robijn Boekelmans (cello) and Imke Jansen on viola. The name MonThruSun came up when Hans Bos was thinking of a new open/closed sign on the art gallery door in Amsterdam. The passion for the gallery where artists like Sarah Maple, Ciou, Ray Caesar and Darara exhibit made him think, how would it be if our space was open from Monday all through to Sunday. Always open, always living, always breathing arts and music. That's where the name MonThruSun came from. The songs were intentionally written and recorded from 2015 and on and first brought out as low-fi songs under the name Speaker. It took 5 years to re-record, arrange and mix the songs with the musicians. Many recordings were done in the Americain Studio, under the Americain Hotel right in the center of Amsterdam. It is cynical that the studio had to close in 2020 when HardRock Cafe took over the hotel and started to build a fitness club instead. Nice to know. Former Soft Parade bass player Eric Maas joins on the opening song 'Moon' and Dick Brouwers, also a former Soft Parade member plays bass on the other songs. He used to play bass in known Dutch bands like 13, Daryll-Ann, Ellen ten Damme, Shine and Claw Boys Claw. Robin Berlijn plays guitar and known from the bands Fatal Flowers, Ellen ten Damme, Moke and Kane. Leon van Egmond is member of the band Straf. Tinca Veerman is known from Bingo Trappers and Mongrell. Notes The song 'Family, it's Our Blood', no.3 on the album has a key role in the feature film ‘Hemelrijken’ (dir. Stanley Kolk). Musical reference The music on the album resounds with artists like Adam Green, Spain, Pavement, The Velvet Underground, Tindersticks and the Beatles.
