"Mary Palda Marxen, born October 22, 1935 died peacefully surrounded by family on January 3, 2013. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Charles and Loretta Palda. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in music at Barry University in Florida. She became a nun, joining the Dominican Sisters in Adrian, Michigan in 1955. She taught vocal music and choral performance at Rosary High School in Detroit, Michigan, shared her music and gave inspirational talks to prisoners in the Detroit area, and recorded several albums while earning her Master's Degree in vocal performance from Catholic University in Washington D.C. Mary left the convent in 1970, and in the next 7 months she became a secretary, big band singer, a wife and mother.
