Carlos Renán Cámara Zavala (Chalín) (1905 - 1992), was a Mexican troubadour and composer born in Mérida (Yucatán), Mexico and died in Mexico City. Son of Don Gonzalo Cámara Zavala. Guitarist, composer and singer with a baritone tessitura, was the second voice of Guty Cárdenas whom he accompanied on many of his recordings. He had known the famous Yucatecan singer-songwriter since his early years, at the Escuela Modelo, where they both studied. In 1928, he met with Guty Cárdenas in New York to record records for the Columbia brand, which achieved great popularity in Latin American countries. He later continued working with Guty, particularly at the XEW radio station, until his murder occurred in 1932. He integrated several duets that became famous after the one he held with Guty Cárdenas: with the Yucatecan tenor, Ermilo Castilla, with Wello Rivas and in 1958 with the juchiteco troubadour, Saúl Martínez. He also formed a tropical music group called La Cumbancha and participated in the Flores-Mejía quartet, led by another great Mexican folk music: Manuel Esperón.
