Mexican troubadour and composer (Mérida, Yucatán, June 24, 1903 - Mérida, Yucatán, May 12, 1984). Artistically known as “El Cubano”, he learned to play the guitar at the age of 17 and soon joined the troubadours of the plaza grande. His first duet was formed with Fernando Martínez Alpuche. He was a member of the Cuarteto México and the Cuarteto Yucatán. His best known songs are: The bambuco "Reminiscencias", with verses by Víctor M. Martínez; "Anhelos Del Alma", with Manuel Montes de Oca; "Reina De Mi Alma" and "Los Clarineros", with the Colombian Rómulo Rozo, and "Tu Dolor y El Mío"; with Jorge Peniche. He also composes songs with Ermilo Padrón López, Humberto Lara and Lara, Carlos Duarte Moreno, José Salomón Osorio, Esteban Rejón Tejero, Gustavo Vega Ibarra, and Conrado Roche.
