Valery Trubin-Leonov - conductor, was born in the city of Michurinsk, Tambov region. In 1970 he graduated from the Leningrad Music College at the Leningrad Conservatory (now the St. Petersburg Conservatory, piano and choir conducting class of V. Otrezov). In 1974 he graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in the class of Professor A.I. Anisimov / Александр Анисимов (conductor-choir department), professors I.A. Musina / Илья Мусин (opera and symphony conducting, 1977). He completed his postgraduate studies in 1981 in the class of People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Temirkanov. From 1977-1981 he worked as a conductor at the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater and as a teacher at the Novosibirsk Conservatory. In 1981-1988 Valeriy Trubin-Leonov was the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the Luhansk Regional Philharmonic Society (Ukraine). In 1986, for merits in the development of musical art, he was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker of Ukraine. In 1988-1994 he was the artistic director and chief conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Radio and Television of Belarus / Симфонический Оркестр Гостелерадио Белорусской ССР. In 1989-1992 he was the conductor of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus. Also in 1988-1992 he taught at the Minsk State Conservatory, Department of Opera and Symphony Conducting. From 1994-2002 he was Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Southfield Symphony Orchestra (USA). Also, in 1995-2006 he was Principal Guest Conductor of the Chamber Choir and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (USA). Founder, artistic director and conductor of the opera studio of the Lugansk State Academy of Culture and Arts named after Mikhail Matusovsky / Михаил Матусовский (Ukraine). Since 2014 he has been a conductor at the Primorsky Opera and Ballet Theatre. Since 2016 he has been working on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.
