Jeffery Prentice

Principal Timbalero of the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra . Born in New York, he began his percussion studies at the Eastman School of Music Preparatory School in New York, later studied at the New England School of Music (BM, MM) and received his Doctorate in Music from the University of Maryland. . He also highlights his participation as an official fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center. He has played with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Boston Pops Orchestra (where he has toured and recorded soundtracks with John Williams), The Handel Haydn Society of Boston, The Kennedy Center Orchestra, "Collage" ( Boston Contemporary Ensemble) and has been a timpanist with the Boston Ballet Orchestra, as well as the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra (New York). Likewise, he regularly participates with the Royal Orchestra of Seville and the Orchestra of Castilla y León. He has held positions with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the United States Army Band of Washington DC (US President's Orchestra). In the field of teaching, he has given percussion classes in various entities in Asia, the US and Spain, has commissioned and recorded four new works for timpani, and has performed as a soloist with the Taiwan National Orchestra. He has been a visiting professor at the JONDE (Spanish National Youth Orchestra) and the Andalusian Youth Orchestra. He is very interested in developing new percussion products, and collaborates regularly with several of the world's leading percussion companies.
