Mello Tha Guddamann is a rapper, singer, and songwriter from the southeast side of Chicago. He launched his career with a six-song untitled mixtape that included remakes (remixes) of the most popular industry songs at the time. His most controversial track titled “Who suck C*ck?” caught the attention of many people across the city including Chicago’s own Twista who Mello would sign within 2008. He began touring and opening up for Twista with his new found GMG labelmates building a fanbase online and across the country. Throughout the next few years, Mello would release a series of mixtapes including I’m Mello Tha Guddamann, I’m Still Mello Tha Guddamann 2x and From Da Streetz 2 Da Sheetz that all included both original and remixed songs where he showcased his versatility. Singing and rapping over industry beats, Mello brought a different sound to the Chicago music scene. Opening up for various artists such as Rick Ross, Future, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane and more…he was becoming a household name in the city. In 2012, he released his single “I Luv Da Streetz” that featured Ace Hood and was perceived very well by his fans. Shortly after he dropped his club hit “Buss It Down” following with a remix featuring Twista and M.E. that garnered him much success landing him a Buss It Down clothing line that soon became popular throughout the states. Having so much success with his music Mello would soon find himself alongside Chicago native R.Kelly and would serve as co-writer to Twista’s “Throwing My Money” off his Dark Horse release. Due to all the violent rumors surrounding the Chicagoland area and speculations, Mello decided to release his street anthem “I’m From Chicago” that touched on events that take place in the city. He received an overwhelming response of positivity because of the message behind the song eventually leading up to the 2016 release of his mixtape Da Remix God: From Da Streetz 2 Da Sheetz Vol.2 that included his remakes (remixes) to Bryson Tiller’s “Don’t” & “Exchange” that took the internet by storm. Mello is currently working on his first studio album with a new home. Independent label Trap Execs founded by Will of Red Diamond also based out of Chicago. This year is already off to a phenomenal start with the February 2017 release of his single “Trap Nap” featuring Gucci Mane. With the support of the DJ’s across the city “Trap Nap” is in heavy rotation on the local radio stations.
