American jazz trombonist and bandleader. born 11 March 1898 in Roosevelt, New York, USA died 29 April 1961 in New York City, New York, USA He played with many orchestras and artists including Gus Sharpe's Orchestra , The Original Memphis Five (1922), Ross Gorman, Roger Wolfe Kahn, Sam Lanin, Ray Miller (4), Red Nichols, Bix Beiderbecke, Tommy Dorsey, Paul Whiteman, among others, and was a leader of his own groups. He composed e.g. "Slippin' Around", "There'll Come a Time (Wait and See)" with Wingy Manone, "Hangover" with Red Nichols, "Worryin' The Life Out Of Me" with Frank Signorelli and Bob Russell and "Miff's Blues".
