Danish 60's hippie-rock band. Shortly after the the release of the groups only album, the critically acclaimed "Hip", the groups vocalist, lyricist and frontman Eik Skaløe travelled to India but disappeared and later was found starved to death with a suicide note on him. His death, the short-lived band and a very competent album has turned Steppeulvene into one of Denmarks few rock legends. In 2003 a trio reunion line up with Preben Devantier, Søren Seirup and Stig Møller performed live. The danish organization for music critics has named their award "Steppeulven" after the band.
