Years active: 2016 - 2023 (hiatus) It was in 2016 that the Moons came out with their first album Songs of Wood & Fire, mixing the music from Minas Gerais with the british folk of names like Nick Drake and John Martyn. Formed by André Travassos (voice and guitar) after the end of his old band Câmera, the formation was consolidated with the arrival of other important names of the musical scene of Belo Horizonte: Jennifer Souza (Transmissor) voices and guitars, Tiago Eiras (Dibigode) on drums, Bernardo Bauer (Pequeno Céu) on bass, Victor Magalhães (Iconili) on keyboards, later replaced by Felipe D'Angelo and Digo Leite on banjo, guitar and harmonica. In addition to precise collaborations of the conductor Rodrigo Garcia (8) (Cartoon) in the strings arrangements. The organic and introspective folk of the first record drew the attention of the specialized press due the softness of the compositions and the arrangements, and the record figure out in several list of the best releases of 2016. The premiere in the stages happened in a mini tour in France, playing in small pubs and cafes like the Le Pop In in Paris. The band toured major cities in Brazil, such as Belo Horizonte, São Paulo and Brasília, as well as important festivals such as Breve Festival and Fartura in the capital of Minas Gerais, the emerging Hack Town in Santa Rita do Sapucaí, and the MECA Festival in the incredible Inhotim museum. As a result of jam sessions and experimentation, the album, mostly recorded in an organic way with members playing together, brings sonorities that goes beyond the classic folk that marked the band's debut and explores other strands like soul music, space and blues rock.
