Alfred Sedgwick

English-born concertina player, composer and arranger of minstrel songs and operettas (b. 1823 London, UK – d. January 4, 1878 Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, USA) Sedwick emigrated to the United States in October 1851. For a while, he wrote and arranged music for Christy's Minstrels, then he led the orchestra of Mrs. F. B. Conway's Theatre in New York, and later founded his own, ultimately unsuccessful minstrel troupe. He composed at least 23 works of musical theater and numerous minstrel songs.
