HAST (4)

HAST (official capitalization - abbreviation of Hayez Arnal Sébastien Thierry) is an experimental project from Lyon, France started in November 2018. Sébastien Hayez & Thierry Arnal share a love for both visual art and music; Hayez is a graphic designer specialising in album artwork (Gnaw, Second Rope), Arnal is a composer (SEPL, 2W, AMANTRA), who also creates collages and paintings. In 2002, Hayez began experimenting with abstract digital art, converting graphics into sound scores using video software, resulting in raw files of pure frequencies, cut and pasted into a collage, resulting in 20 minutes of audio. In November 2018, Arnal found that these tracks were the perfect raw material for composing a new project, modifying the sounds in order to produce a postapocalyptic soundscape. Together, the duo now explores the relationship between picture and sound with their ongoing project: HAST.
