Theodore Saunway

American composer. Born 1940, in Lakewood Ohio. Following a musically active childhood during which he studied playing various instruments and studying theory, Saunway's musical career went into hiatus during which he undertook a number of non-musically oriented jobs. He began formal studies in composition at age 32 and began composing in 1975. In 1979 he took up residence in Berlin where he composes and teaches. He has been performed by the Berlin Philharmonic, Kronos Quartet, and his orchestral piece "Troktès", recorded for Vienna Modern Masters label by the Polish Radio and TV Symphony Orchestra of KKrakow conducted by Szymon Kawalla, marks his first appearance on compact disc.
