Gerardo Tamez

Mexican guitarist, musician and composer. Héctor Gerardo Tamez Domínguez was born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, on May 6, 1948. His beginnings in music were with the group Los Folkloristas in 1966, on this date he began to play in public. With them he released his first composition, Tierra mestiza, on August 20, 1976 it premiered at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in the group's first presentation. With Los Folkloristas he learned to listen to folklore and it was there that he began to play string instruments such as the harp and violin. Subsequently, he devoted himself more to classical guitar and composition. Concertist since 1977 to date in Mexico, South America, the United States and Europe, both as a soloist and as a member of several ensembles: Los Folkloristas, Terceto de Guitarras de la Ciudad de México and Ensamble Tierra Mestiza (conductor), the latter two currently
