Spanish singer, songwriter and showman natural of Carrizo de la Ribera (León, Spain). Born on January 23, 1933 and passed away on February 4, 2020 at 87 years of age. As a child he grew up in the Cimadevilla neighborhood (Gijón, Asturias, Spain) where he arrived with his family. With the artistic name of Manolo Carrizo, he won in Oviedo the first prize of the contest 'Rumbo a la Gloria' In his most popular years he became part of the 'Orquesta Panamá' and agreed on the stages with the main artists of the 60s and 70s of the last century who went through Gijón as Raphael, Julio Iglesias, Nino Bravo, Adamo, Matt Monro, Rocío Jurado, Peret, Carmen Sevilla and Lola Flores. He also formed his own group 'Carrizo and his boys', with which he made generations of Gijón dance in theaters like 'Parque del Piles' in Gijón. He was also known for his role as entrepreneur of his own place, 'Carrizo Pop'. Very committed to the arrival of democracy to Spain, there were clandestine rallies, the main Spanish singer-songwriters and also performed live some of the most legendary groups of Spanish rock from the late 70s.
