US rock guitarist (May 29, 1950 - July 10, 2015). Darryl Clifford St. John, 65, Green Bay, formerly of Oconto Falls, died Friday July 10, 2015 at home of natural causes. He was born in Manistique, MI on May 29, 1950, son of the late Clifford and Virginia (Roe) St. John. As a boy, Darryl attended St. Anthony's Parochial School and later graduated from Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1968 which was followed with two years at NWTI. Darryl married Marlene (Coshenet) on October 9, 1971 and moved to Green Bay after their marriage. Once in Green Bay, he enjoyed his time working with all his friends at Henri's Music and P&G. In February of 1964, Darryl watched The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show which sparked his love for guitar and music. While at NWTI, Darryl decided to pursue his passion of music professionally. Since then, audiences and artists have been dazzled by his soulful and lightning fast guitar virtuosity. He is famously known for the band Atlantic Mine. Other bands include: Junction, Tears, Metamorphosis, Tour-de-Force, Dog & Shovel, Acoustically Speaking, Red Light Fright, along with Dazed & Confuzed and Black Dog, both Led Zeppelin Tribute Bands. To further pursue his music career, he moved to New York in 1978 and then San Francisco (1989-1992). While in California, he performed with Steve Perry (Journey), Neal Schon (Journey), Michael Carabello and "Chepito" Areas (Santana), Davey Pattison (Ronnie Montrose, Gamma, Robin Trower), Peter Tork (The Monkees), and on sessions w/ Narada Michael Walden's project "Cyn City." Darryl performed locally and in San Francisco with The Dave Steffen band and was invited to play with Cheap Trick whenever they performed around Wisconsin. He will always be remembered for his love of music and his way with words. Darryl released two albums of his own: "Basement Tapes" and "War of Blue." Darryl can be heard on the more recent album "Visiting Zeppelin.
