American lyricist and composer. Born December 15, 1911 Lawrence, New York Died December 9, 2003 Manhattan, New York (age of 91). She is perhaps best known for penning "How Did He Look?" recorded by over 100 different singers, including by Joan Merrill, Connie Francis, and Eydie Gormé, among others (co-written by Abner Silver). The male versions sang the lyrics as "How Did She Look?" She began writing poetry at an early age and had verse published before she graduated high school. She moved to Manhatten, went to Columbia University and worked for a time as an actress and dancer. She began writing song lyrics in the late 1930s. Her only charted song was "Oliver Twist" by Rod McKuen, which rose to #76 on the U.S. chart in 1962 (co-written by McKuen). She also wrote for Broadway and many a jingle for advertising. She also wrote the story that became the movie "Idea Girl" in 1946.
