American vocalist, trumpeter and band leader. Born January 26, 1907 Died November 14, 1995 (88 years old) Chicago, Illinois. He was the bandleader on the longest running network radio show of all time, ABC's "The Breakfast Club with Don McNeil" from 1944-1968. He became musical director and arranger for the show in 1944. From 1932-1942 he was staff orchestrator with the NBC. In 1927, he went on the road with Lloyd Huntley's Isle of Blues Orchestra as a vocalist and trumpeter. He graduated 1943 from Northwestern University. He studied composition privately with Albert Noelte for 11 years, who was a Northwestern University music professor. He was partial owner (9%) of WAFM FM radio station in Anderson, Indiana.
