Eugene M. “Gene” Woods was born September 17, 1942 in Baxter Springs, Kansas. He died August 28, 2009 in Arma, Kansas from Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Gene was a professional musician playing the guitar for many years. He belonged to the band Gene and the Night Lighters, playing locally at the Down Home County Theatre in Cherokee, KS for 2 years. He cut a record with Jack Green. He played with the Rockabilly Hall of Fame Conny & The Bellhops in 1950′s. He played with the great Chet Atkins and Jimmie Dickens.
