Michael Lockett

Keyboardist, producer, songwriter, and owner of Lockdouwne Records, Lockdowne Studio and Locknet 9M Publishing, based in Lafayette, Louisiana, USA. His work spans a variety of genres, including R&B, gospel, country, blues, jazz, hip hop, southern soul, zydeco and reggae. He was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and attended the local Southern University. He moved to Atlanta in the mid-eighties, to Los Angeles in the late eighties, and back to Louisiana in the nineties. His career started already while in high school, he was keyboardist in a local band that featured Kenny Neal. While at Southern, he studied under music professor and clarinetist Alvin Batiste, and performed with such artists as Branford Marsalis, Donald "Duck" Harris and Randy Jackson (2). In Atlanta he played in jazz and R&B clubs and studio recordings with groups such as [a1067223], Howard Nicholson, Bradwater, and Track4. While in Los Angeles Lockett focused on studio work, and acted as vice CEO of D&D Enterprises. After returning to Louisiana he has played and worked with Herman Jackson (3), Kenne' Wayne, Mel Waiters, Beau Jocque, Lee Oskar, Krossfyre, ConneG, Keith Frank and many others, while also leading his own band, "Mike Lockett & Outtaboundz".
