American songwriter & screenwriter. Born - 8th April, 1914, New York. Died - 12th April 1983 (age 69), Los Angeles. At 14, he met Vic Mizzy, also from Brooklyn, who became his music collaborator for many years. Irving entered N.Y.U. and together with Mizzy started writing songs and sketches for various variety shows. They continued their writing together after enlisting in the Navy, with 6 charted hits together from 1938 to 1944. Taylor's songs have charted 30 times in the U.S. and 5 times in the U.K. from 1936 to 1966. "Everybody Loves Somebody" by Dean Martin hit #1 in 1964. "One-Zy Two-Zy" by Phil Harris (co-wrtten by Dave Franklin) hit #2 in 1946. "Give Me Your Word" by Tennessee Ernie Ford hit #1 in the U.K. in 1955 (co-written by George Wyle). His songwriting career included teaming up with other notable composers Eddie Pola and Ken Lane. In addition to songwriting, he wrote TV movies and TV series episodes.
