William F. Swor

Dr. Swor was band director at LSU from 1964 to 1977, leading the school's marching, symphonic, summer and military bands. Dr. Swor was born in Shreveport. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from Peabody College. After leaving LSU, he earned a doctorate in musical arts from the University of Texas at Austin. He later moved to Georgia, where he taught music and directed the band of an Atlanta high school.
