Bill White was the bassist of the band For Squirrels. He along with the band's singer Jack Vigliatura and guitarist Travis Tooke all attended East Lake Highschool where they met through the school's soccer team. They would all attend college together at UF in Gainesville, and it was he and Travis who launched their musical careers after buying instruments from a pawnshop. Bill described the band and their performances at hometown venues such as the Covered Dish (now called the High Dive), during the early days by saying, "We were 80% schtick, 20% music. I played most of the shows sitting down while wearing a kayak crash helmet." Bill wrote most of the bass parts of For Squirrels' songs, and Jack Griego attributes the song 8:02 pm as coming primarily from him. On September 8th, 1995 Bill White was killed when the rear right tire of the band's tour van blew out, causing it to roll. The crash also claimed the lives of Jack Vigliatura and Tim Bender. Jack and Bill are buried side by side in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park. Bill was 23 years old. "I think our music should be a book of fables that everyone can relate to." - Bill White
