Søren Koch is a danish singer, musician, songwriter and producer, born November 10, 1970 in Copenhagen. He is based north of Copenhagen, where he owns and run the Echophonic recording studio. Grown up in Vordingborg, Denmark, he started playing drums at the age of 6, keyboards at the age of 9, but settled on guitar at the age of 10 when he also formed his first band, The Young Boys. Played with several local bands as leadsinger, guitarist and occasionally bass player and songwriter thru his teens. Formed Dans Moderne with Ronnie Bille, Micki Harvig and Flemming Andersen in 1987 and worked with this band as bass player, backing vocalist and songwriter untill its dismiss in 1992. The band released the 7" Kigger På/Love Me Two Times (Roxon Records) in 1990. Keyboard player Niels Odgaard joined the band in 1991. After the break up, the band, minus Andersen, reformed as Swell for a short while with Koch as leadsinger/bassplayer/songwriter untill breaking up in 1993. While working with Dans Moderne, Koch formed C.B. & The Tranquilizers in 1988 as leadsinger/guitarist/songwriter with school friends. Mainly around Kochs songwriting activities the band settled with bassist Carsten Pedersen (2), drummer Peter Stryg and keyboard player Anders Trentemøller. C.B. & The Tranquilizers changed its name to FLOW (19) in 1992, released the 4-track EP 'Flow' on Instant Records in 1995, then signed to Virgin Records and released the album 'Flow' in 1996 recorded at Sweet Silence Studios with producer Finn Jansen . Anders Trentemøller left the band in 1997 and the band started recording for a second album with swedish producer Marco Manieri at Tambourine Studios, Stockholm, Sweden. Due to contractual issues with Virgin Records, the album never materialised and FLOW (19) broke up in 1998. In 1997 Søren Koch started working with danish singer/songwriter Marie Frank as guitarist, backing vocalist and co-writer and toured and recorded with Marie Frank untill 2005. With Marie Frank drummer and producer Kent Olsen, he launched the Echophonic studio in 1997 in Valby, Denmark and worked as engineer, producer and musician here with amongst others Marie Frank, Polo (54), Mad Parker, Howe Gelb, Lovebites, David Skydsgård and Silvertone. In 2003 Søren Koch recorded with Nalle (2), Jørgen Krabbenhøft of The Hitmakers (5), Sir Henry (8) and Peter Belli - released as The Hithouse Reunion Vol. 1 - The Grey Gold Strikes Back and continued working with Peter Belli untill 2006 on two acoustic albums and follow-up tours. With danish guitarist Lars Skjærbæk drummer Johan Lei Gellett and bassist Troels Skjærbæk, Koch formed Boat Man Love with whom he toured and recorded untill the band decided to put itself on hold in 2012. Boat Man Love also recorded with Louise Hart and became the backing band for danish singer/guitarist/songwriter Michael Falch from 2006 untill 2012. In 2007 he provided lead vocals to 'I Hear A New World' as part of the project-studio band The Meekqualizers contribution to the Johnny Stage-produced Joe Meek-tribute album [m3236848]. Søren Koch also recorded and toured with danish singer/songwriter Allan Østerdahl in 2012-13. In 2008 Koch recorded an album with danish trio Skipper Just Frost supplying guitar, banjo and harmonica. From 2009 Søren Koch toured as bass player and backing vocalist with danish singer/songwriter Tim Christensen. In 2011 the band behind Tim Christensen became Tim Christensen And The Damn Crystals, who recorded the Paul McCartney tribute album [m892403] with Mike Viola and Tracy Bonham. The band also played live with Gemma Hayes. In 2010 Søren Koch formed The Beatophonics with whom he have since released several albums as leadsinger, guitarist, songwriter and producer. The Beatophonics has worked with several danish artists, amongst others Keld Heick, Silas Bjerregaard, Freja Loeb, Christian Hjelm, Josephine Philip, Frederik Vedersø, Peter Belli and Steffen Westmark, with whose project, Peppermint B, Koch has also worked as bass player and backing vocalist live and on albums. In 2018 Søren Koch joined the English rock band The Zombies as bass player/backing vocalist with whom he has since recorded and toured intensively. Also in 2018 Koch worked with danish singer/songwriter Poul Krebs on a tour of danish festivals. In 2020 Koch formed the acoustic blood-harmony inspired duo 'Koch & Marott' with Trine Marott. Søren Koch is also part of the danish common singing-project Sangskatten with Nikolaj Muldkjær, with whom he have also recorded. Since 1994 he has been part of the leading danish Beatles tribute band, Beat The Meetles.
