Ram Dass Khalsa is a music producer, audio engineer, and multi-instrumentalist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was raised in a musical family, both parents professional musicians, and was instilled with a profoundly diverse musical background, ranging from Beethoven to The Beatles and Aaron Copland to John Coltrane. He had the great privilege of being surrounded by highly skilled performers from an early age and has honed himself to become a uniquely sensitive and deeply emotional artist. At the age of sixteen, already an accomplished and prodigious classical clarinetist, he performed with the Young People’s Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. He continued to study clarinet performance at the University of Oregon and quickly immersed himself in music from around the world with a concentration on North Indian classical music. By nineteen, he joined Snatam Kaur on tour for the first time, performing with her across North America and Europe, and appeared on her Live In Concert album. In 2006, he opened for Roscoe Mitchell and Joseph Jarman of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, performing with Jarman at the John Anson Ford Amphitheater in Hollywood. In 2019, Ram Dass performed at the GRAMMY Awards with Snatam Kaur for her nomination for Best New Age Album. In 2011, he released his self-produced album The Alchemist’s Prayer with Spirit Voyage Records and soon joined forces with Nirinjan Kaur to produce her next two solo albums, Prem Siri and From Within (Feat. Matthew Schoening and Ram Dass), which reached #1 on the iTunes world music chart and #8 on the Billboard New Age chart. He has since produced over twenty more albums, with production and engineering credits including Snatam Kaur (Sat Nam! Songs From Khalsa Youth Camp), Jai-Jagdeesh (All Is Now Light; Down Come The Walls), Alex Conde (Live at St. John’s Church), Sirgun (The Cosmic Gift), Adrienne Shamszad (Crater; Nothing I Can Say), and the Curran Theater featuring the Tony Award®-Winning musicals Fun Home and Dear Evan Hansen.
