Born (September 25 1990) in New Hampshire, USA, Garrett Finn is an American/Canadian electronic music DJ and producer known for his gritty, dark, cinematic style. Known professionally by his artist moniker Rhyot (pronounced "riot"), his productions typically draw influence from the techno, electro, industrial, and progressive electronica genres. His own record label is called Emercive Recordings, and was launched in 2018. Finn began using the alias Rhyot in 2007 in an online game and later adopted it for his live DJ performances, which began in 2011 while he was attending the University of New Hampshire. In 2013, the year of his graduation, Rhyot was recognized by The New Hampshire newspaper as "UNH's DJ" and performed as local support at NV Concepts' "Wild On: UNH" benefit concert to support The One Fund in response to the Boston Marathon bombing earlier that year. Other performers at the event included Morgan Page, Tommie Sunshine, and Kapslap. Finn began producing music as early as that year, though his debut commercial release under the Rhyot alias was not until 2018, despite uploading works in progress or unofficial tracks to Soundcloud and YouTube in the time during. In 2015, Finn joined world renowned didgeridoo performer Joseph Carringer in the electronic music fusion band Table Syndicate (formerly Bastinado) as a replacement for departing founder and music producer Josh Harris. His first live performance with the band was at a private concert event at Disney's Epcot, using two Reactable Live systems and live didgeridoo. In early 2016, Finn relocated to join Carringer in Pittsburgh to produce original and remixed recordings. Together, they produced remixes for Phillip George with Dragonette, Dianne Warren with Michelle Obama, Michael Franti, Sheila Gordhan, Empire of the Sun, and collaborated with Liz Berlin of Rusted Root. One of their remix packs, alongside Roger Sanchez, reached #1 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart, and multiple releases they supported on commission by Capital Records, Astralwerks, and others reached similar charts. Finn left the group at the end of 2016 to focus on his solo artist career. In March 2018, Rhyot founded Emercive Recordings, an independent record label incorporated in Canada in 2019. The label's first release was "Converge, Vol. 1", which included Rhyot's single "Meld", directly followed by his single "Army of the Dead", both of which received support from producer deadmau5 during one of his livestreams so called "mau5trap Mondays. The "Converge" series, including the third volume, a double LP released in December 2019, has achieved notable charting success on Beatport, each with an original track from Rhyot included. In February 2020, Rhyot released his debut EP "In Ruin". In October of the same year, Barbosa released the (ra) EP on Emercive, including a remix by Rhyot of "Juárez". The EP reached the top of Beatport's Indie Dance Releases chart. In March 2021, Rhyot and Barbosa released a collaborative EP titled "Unbound", comprised of an original track of the release's name, followed by two remixes - one each by the two producers. Later in 2021, Rhyot released "Aphelion" on Barbosa's Heist Mode label, performed in Los Angeles, released a remix of Bad Eye's "Aphotic" on the imprint Understated @ Nite, and organized an underground dance music live event in Toronto. In 2022, he returned to Los Angeles for a headline performance at the FALLOUT event series and supported Heist Mode's summer showcase in the city. He also released his second guest mix feature with EDM Identity and previewed new unreleased tracks. In December 2022, Rhyot released "Genesis", a progressive house and electronica single that had been in progress since 2014.
