Tanguediaduo

The adventure of Tanguediaduo began in 1995 following a brainwave inspired by the music of the Argentine composer and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla. After Histoire du Tango, a unique original suite for flute and guitar, Tanguediaduo began the meticulous work of transcription and arrangement of a variety of music conceived by Piazzolla for various entities, reconsidered for the small group of flute and guitar. This fascinating work garnered prizes in international competitions, numerous monographic concerts and three CDs containing the music of the Argentine maestro. Many concerts of the duo have been introduced by Laura Escalada Piazzolla, wife of the composer, who was responsible for the presentation of the second CD "Soledad.” This long experience has led Tanguediaduo to investigate the music of other authors who, like Piazzolla, take inspiration from their traditional music to create an extremely personal and malleable language. The latest CD of the duo, "Joyful departure" contains original music and arrangements of pieces written by Ralph Towner, Egberto Gismonti, Terry Riley, Alfredo Speranza and Astor Piazzolla himself. The concert programs of the duo also feature original pages of 1900’s and contemporary music.
