Giuseppe Guarneri Filius Andreae

Giuseppe filius Andreæ Guarneri (25 Nov 1666—c.1739-'40) was an Italian luthier and violin maker, member of the prominent [I]Casa Guarneri in Cremona. His father Andrea Guarneri and the eldest brother Pietro Guarneri were successful instrument-makers, as well. Giuseppe had two sons who continued the family tradition: Pietro (1695—1762), also known as Pietro II and Pietro di Venezia, established a workshop in Venice around 1718. And the younger son, Bartolomeo Giuseppe (1698—1744), the legendary 'del Gesu,' became the most celebrated and well-known member of Guarneri's dynasty.
