Об исполнителе:
With the Aguascalientes singer Martha Catalina we are going to listen to the songs "Black Tears", by Miguel Matamoros and "Ni por favor", by Rubén Fuentes and Alberto Cervantes. Martha Catalina was a bolerista who recorded several albums mainly in the early fifties. Unfortunately, there is little biographical data of this singer that, according to Pablo Dueñas, in his book of boleros, was much loved by the northern audiences. Apparently her first name was Catalina Palacios. Martha Catalina's style had a touch of drag in her way of performing her songs. Some say that the style of interpreting this singer included a stamp impregnated with eroticism. He began his career at the XEB radio station, La Buen Tono station, in the early 1950s; later he was an artist of the XEW, The Voice of Latin America from Mexico, in the midday programs. Most of his 78 rpm discs made them for the Columbia label. One of his greatest successes was the bolero “Vacío”, by composer José de Jesús Morales. Other boleros he recorded were "Mazatlan Nights", "Nonsense", "I lost your love", "Compassion", "Answer to sea and sky", "Partic Heart", "Black flowers", "Badly reciprocated", and others plus. Martha Catalina passed away in the mid-eighties.
