Brazilian singer and composer, born in 1921, in Recife/Pernambuco. He began his artistic career in the early 1940s singing at Rádio Clube de Pernambuco, in the city of Recife, which at the time was the most listened to radio station in the Northeast, singing on the program "Valores Históricos" directed by Carlos Brasil. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Rio de Janeiro. He debuted in 1945, recording the samba "Fantasia Carioca" and the fantasy "República dos Palmares" for Continental, both without any author indication. The bolero-mambo "Covarde", by Getúlio Macedo and Lourival Faissal, his greatest success and which broke sales records. In 1959, he recorded the LP "Tormento" which includes the songs. "Malagueña" by Elpídio Ramirez and Pedro Galindo; "Um Pouco de Nós Mesmos", by Getúlio Macedo; "Guerra Sem Paz", by José Menezes and Jorge Murad; "Foi Apenas Brinquedo", by Waldir Finotti and Inácio Heleno; "Carreta", by Alvarenga and Ranchinho; "Covarde", by Getúlio Macedo and Lourival Faissal; "Tormento", by Zeca do Pandeiro and Umberto Silva; "Meu Castigo", by Jair Amorim and Valdemar de Abreu "Dunga"; "Deixa o Tempo Passar", by Aldacir Louro and Linda Rodrigues; "Estranho", by Lourival Faissal and Getúlio Macedo; "Nossa Timidez", by Luiz Bandeira and Alberto Lopes, and "Rio de Janeiro a Janeiro", by Luis Antônio and José Batista.
