Amar DeVillier

Cajun accordionist and harmonica player from Louisiana, also known as Amar "Ti-Frère" DeVillier, who began playing accordion at dance halls in the 1930s and 1940s. He formed several bands that featured musicians such as Dennis McGee, Isom J. Fontenot, Eston Bellow, "Cabrie" Menier, Ed & Bee Deshotels, Preston Manuel, Harry Lafleur, and his son Jerry Devillier. Devillier and McGee are known to have written some songs together, most notably "La Valse de Danse Meg", or "La Valse de Devillier", which was later renamed to "Kathleen's Waltz" by Sady Courville. In the early 1950s Devillier and his band had two songs released by Khoury's Records, "The Durald Two-Step", and "The Show Pick Waltz", with Wallace Lafleur on vocals.
