Album Notes Paul Bresciani is the Principal Bassist of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Bresciani was born in Napa, California and attended Indiana University's School of Music on full scholarship, studying with noted double-bass pedagogues Murray Grodner and Stuart Sankey. In 1985 he earned his Bachelor's of Music degree with High Distinction, and was awarded the prestigious Performer's Certificate for outstanding musicianship. Prior to his appointment in Buffalo, Paul has performed with the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and the New American Chamber Orchestra. With these orchestras he has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, Scandinavia, the Far East, and Israel. In the summer Mr. Bresciani performs with the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra. Paul made his solo debut at age 16 with the North Bay Philharmonic Orchestra under Bertil van Boer. Since then he has been a featured soloist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the New American Chamber Orchestra, and Indiana University's University Orchestra. In 1988, Paul was a prizewinner in the 1988 Los Angeles International Double Bass Competition. He is also a highly sought after chamber musician, having performed at the, Väasa, Korshölm, Nordic and Sälsta Chamber Music Festivals. Paul plays a bass violin made in Milan, Italy in 1731, by Paulo Antonio Testore.
