Najmányi László

Najmányi László was born on February 8, 1946 in the Hermagor, Austria. He died on June 27, 2020 in Budapest, Hungary. Between 1965 and 1972 he graduated from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics with a degree in water engineering. He worked as a design engineer, set designer. One of the most prominent representatives of the Hungarian avant-garde artists of the 1970s. From the beginning of the 1970s, he worked in writing, experimental theater and electronic music, filming films, and was one of the first in Hungary to make a video. He founded the first Hungarian punk band with Molnár Gergely, the Spions, who later also operated in Paris. In 1978, he was forced to emigrate with two members of the Spions. He settled in Paris and then moved to Toronto in 1980 and to New York in 1985, where he worked as Sir David O'Clock. He returned to Budapest in 1996.
