Sounding Bodies

Dutch contemporary music trio, formed in the summer of 2016 by cellist Jacqueline Hamelink. Sounding Bodies began as a site-specific live performance project at an abandoned locomotive repair warehouse in Hamelink's hometown Tilburg. Inspired by the unique acoustic properties of the enormous space, Jacqueline invited pianist Stevko Busch and electric guitarist Aart Strootman for a one-off improvisational session. It was named Derelict after the depot's poor conditions; the building was scheduled for renovation as a cultural center. Subsequently, Sounding Bodies evolved in Jacqueline Hamelink's "solo" collaborative project, and she has organized several more projects with other musicians since then.
