Jessé

Jesse (Niterói, April 25, 1952 - Ourinhos, March 29, 1993) was a Brazilian singer and composer. Jesse was raised in Brasilia. He moved to São Paulo as an adult, and acted as a crooner in nightclubs. After he joined the groups Corrente de Força and Placa Luminosa, encouraging dances throughout Brazil. Even in the 70s, also came to write in English under the pseudonym Tony Stevens. It was revealed to the public in 1980, the Festival MPB Shell of Rede Globo with the song "Porto Solidão" (Zeca Bahia / Ginko), his greatest success, winning award for best performer. In 1983, won the XII Festival da Canção Organização (or Television Iberoamericana) (OTI) held in Washington, with the awards for best singer, best song and best score for "Estrelas de Papel" (Jesse / Elifas Andreato). Very powerful voice in the course of his career Jesse has recorded 12 albums (as the double album "O Sorriso ao Pé da Escada" and "Sobre Todas as Coisas") but never got the credit of the critics. He died at age 40 in March 29, 1993 head injury suffered in a car accident while on his way to the city of Terra Rica, Paraná, to make a spectacle.
