Wim Westendorp (2)

Wim Westendorp, also known as Sibbele, was the son of Wim Westendorp, former mayor of Medemblik and Edam-Volendam and former chairman of FC Volendam. Wim junior succeeded Pé Mühren in 1999 as the stadium speaker of the same FC and did so until the end of the 2011-2012 season. He was a teacher at Don Bosco College in Volendam, writer and singer of various fairground hits and bassist of the party band Alive and No Pictures Please. Westendorp unexpectedly died on Sunday 29 July 2012 at the age of 46 in his home in Volendam. The night before he had performed with his band at the fair in Middenbeemster. The nickname Sibbele had to do with the Frisian origin of Westendorp.
