Ervin Somogyi

US American luthier. Born in Budapest, Hungary, his family relocated to the US in 1959. Somogyi has a degree in English from U.C. Berkeley (1966), studied guitar in Spain and in the 1970s made his living as a flamenco guitarist in the Midwest and in California. He started building guitars in 1970 and is largely self-taught. He also creates lutherie-inspired artwork. b. 1944 in Budapest, Hungary
