Mimi Sunnerstam

Swedish instrumentalist, cello. Born 1966. Between 1983-87 Mimi studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, finishing with a Master's degree. A scholarship enabled her to continue her studies at the Musical Academy in Prague, HAMU (with Saša Vectomov, Miroslav Petráš and the Smetana string quartet). In 1999 she was awarded a scholarship from the Swedish Arts Council to study at the Ali Akbar Khan College of Music in California. For many years she toured throughout the world with different chamber orchestras. She preformed in Lincoln center N.Y. Musikverein in Vienna, Royal palace of king Sihanouk, Cambodia and other prestigious places. In 2000 Mimi joined the Octuor de Violoncelles, en contemporary cello octet who premiered and toured world wide with pieces by Gubaidulina, Berio, Saariaho, Pärt, Dusapin, Finzi et al.
