Professor S. S. Manohar

Shivaram Sadashiv Manohar alias Professor S. S. Manohar - resident of Baroda in Gujrat. Prof S S Manohar was a very close and childhood friend of Mr Bhaurao Kolhatkar, the first actor to play the role of Subhadra in first performance of Sangeet Saubhadra. Both of them were from Baroda. They used to do singing practice jointly in a Ganesh temple in Baroda. Prof S S Manohar was a teacher in the music school of Baroda state. After his retirement from this service of music teacher, he was called back by Maharani Chimnabaisaheb of Baroda to write the books of notations of marathi plays. He wrote atleast 4-5 books of these notations for plays Shakuntal, Saubhadra, Shapsambhram, Mruchakatik. During the same period he gave those 78 rpm records under the label Gramophone Concert Record.These notation books and these records are of much importance because they have no impact of Balgandharva style of natyasangit.
