Reggae singer born in 1952 and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica. As a young man, he sang and DJed with well known reggae sound systems of the time such as Tommy's Hi Fi, Tubby Hi Fi, Daddy Roy sound and King Darby., and co-wrote and narrated the 1980 Bob Marley documentary/concert film "Heartland Reggae" (aka One Love Peace Concert). After immigrating to Canada in 1979, Ras Lee continued to perform with Heaven's Radio, The Roots Revival (led by Ernie Smith), Toronto Reggae Allstars and many others. In Ottawa, he started the band Roots Movement, which continues to perform in Canada (led by Owen Brown). He was nominated in 1986 for a Juno Award and received a Canadian Music Award for his single "Moonlight Lover". Ras Lee continues to perform in various venues and music festivals throughout Ontario and Quebec as a lead vocalist with bands such as The Roots Band, Roots Movement and Hotter Than Ice. Ras Lee first appeared on stage with his father, calypso musician Thomas Morris aka Anancy. His mother, Martella, know as Sister Morris, was the leader of a choir in the Church of God of Prophecy. His son is Ishan Morris.
