Jubing Kristianto

Jubing Kristianto (born 9 April 1966) is an Indonesian fingerstyle guitarist who has extensively explored various repertoires. Jubing uses a classical guitar as his instrument. Jubing is known to be good at presenting the "atmosphere" that a song wants to convey through a combination of various dynamic guitar playing techniques. In addition, this Indonesian guitarist also contributed to the musicalization of poetry by collaborating between guitar playing and poetry readings, he even collaborated with the poet WS Rendra who read poetry and painter Susilowati Natakoesoemah at the "Collaborathree" event in Jakarta. Likewise, the collaboration of his guitar playing with Suryadi's traditional percussion playing and the voice of tenor Abimanyu impressed music fans who saw him. Apart from his courage to collaborate with other artists, Jubing Kristianto also makes great use of the internet as a means to introduce Indonesian music to the world. He was recognized by the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) as "The First Indonesian Guitarist to Distribute Private Guitar Compositions and Arrangements for Free on the Internet" (2008). Previously, in 2005, he received the MURI award as "Writer of the First Guitar Encyclopedia in Indonesia".[5] Apart from trying to share the courage to show the beauty of playing a solo acoustic guitar, Jubing's exploration in music arrangements for children's songs and traditional Indonesian songs is an attempt to introduce the rich treasures of Indonesian music to acoustic guitar fans in the world.
