荒井基裕

荒井基裕 (Motohiro Arai) is a Japanese singer, translator, and critic. Born in Tokyo in 1919. As a horn player, he played in the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the 東京放送管弦楽団. He later became a tenor singer. After studying music in Italy, he devoted himself to the popularization and development of canzone music in Japan, working not only as a singer but also as a translator, critic, and commentator. As a producer, he planned and produced many concerts and invited Italian artists to Japan. He passed away in 2015.
